What We Offer to the Public

APG assists members of the public to locate the professional with the right expertise for their genealogical projects through our directory, which includes more than 2,000 genealogical professionals.

We educate potential clients and the public about what to expect from a professional genealogist. Our members must stay current in our ever-expanding field by participating in mandatory continuing education.

Our participation in the Records Preservation and Access Coalition, and the efforts of our members around the world help to keep genealogical records open and accessible, benefiting everyone interested in genealogy.

Our members abide by the APG Code of Ethics and Professional Practices. In the event that a contracting member of the public believes that an APG member has violated the Code, the client may file a complaint with the Professional Review Committee for adjudication.
