My name is Therese Lynch, and I am a professional genealogist and business owner of Your Family Genealogist. I provide family history research and other related services to people like you. My attention to detail and systematic research approach stems from my former career in public sector senior management.

My passion for genealogy led to me to obtaining a Diploma in Family History from the University of Tasmania then establishing Your Family Genealogist in 2018.

Specializing in Military Family History, Australian convicts, Victorian goldfields, and land records, I also have extensive experience in Irish and British research. I also offer individual and group training for commercial genealogy databases such as Ancestry and Findmypast.

Living in Canberra, I utilize national institutions including the National Archives of Australia, the Australian War Memorial, and the National Library of Australia for research beyond online databases. As a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, I follow their Code of Ethics and the Genealogical Proof Standard.

As an active member of Family History ACT (FHACT), I contribute to their magazine, give presentations, and have edited a chapter on Land Records in their book, Family History for Beginners and Beyond. I am a Findmypast guest blogger.

I believe in sharing information and enjoy discovering and imparting new or little-known family history resources through my Blog. I look forward to joining you on your genealogical journey.
