I am from and currently live in Evansville, Indiana. I trained as an architectural technician, but also earned a BA in German and French, and an MA in Applied Linguistics. Among other places, I lived in Germany for 4 years, where I worked for an engineering firm, and in Austria for 8 years, where I taught English at a university of applied sciences.

I began researching my own German ancestry in the mid-1970s. My interest has since broadened to include the history of German-speaking immigrants in general, with special emphasis on those who settled in southwest Indiana. I am experienced in researching and translating records written in German, Dutch, French, and Latin.

In 2020, I received the PLCGS (Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies) from the National Institute for Genealogical Studies in Toronto, with specialization in German and American records.
