Based in Berkshire, U.K., I offer services in genetic genealogy/DNA research, traditional family history (both digital and archival) and palaeography. A former cancer research scientist and mathematician, I hold a D.Phil. in Systems Biology from the University of Oxford, where I also trained in DNA extraction & analysis. I'm an experienced international speaker and am also qualified in Latin translation.
In addition to my private client work, I'm the Ancestry and Genealogy Expert for the popular show, Time Team, where I get to dovetail archival and genetic genealogy research with my colleagues' archaeological finds, potentially working with anything between the 12th and 20th centuries. I'm also the Specialist Tutor in DNA at the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies in the U.K., authoring and leading their Certificate programmes in DNA and Genetic Genealogy.
My special interests include genetic genealogy, death records, ancestral mapping and historical occupations, but I'm willing to consider commissions across a broad range of topics.
