Shannon Byers is the CEO and founder of NOKfinders which specializes in solving unclaimed and missing person cases in the U.S. NOKfinders works with coroners, medical examiners, funeral homes.

For unclaimed person cases, we work with agencies to provide them with contact information for family or friends of decedents. Our goal is to ensure family's are notified when someone dies and to avoid them becoming unclaimed.

For missing person cases, we work with agencies to identify and locate next of kin. Agencies then work with the family to obtain a family DNA reference sample that can be compared to identify remains.

In many of these cases, authorities do not have time to locate next of kin. Aspiring forensic genealogists have the skills to make a difference and are working to solve these cases through our Academy.
