Shannon Musfelt, founder of Benchmark Genealogy, has over fifteen years of genealogical research experience using both traditional and genetic genealogy. She has completed courses with the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG), the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR), the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh (GRIP), the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records (Gen-Fed), the Applied Genealogy Institute (AppGen), and Excelsior College. She has also completed the Boston University Certificate in Genealogical Research program, and the GenProof and ProGen Study Groups. Shannon can help solve any manner of family history mysteries.
Shannon is a member of the National Genealogical Society (NGS) as well as several local and regional societies and organizations. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and the Pinellas Genealogy Society (PGS). Shannon has held positions on the APG Nominating Committee, the APG Writer's Special Interest Group (SIG) Programs Committee, and is currently serving on the On-Ramp, Publications Advisory, and Awards Committees for APG. Shannon also serves as Assistant Communications Manager for SLIG and was coordinator for ProGen 66.
