Sara Butson began her genealogy passion as a young child. She was raised listening to family lore, looking at old photos, and visiting cemeteries on a regular basis. Family artifacts were often shared or looked at when family lore was discussed. This love of family history inspired her to make the decision to work towards becoming a professional genealogist.
In 2012 Sara began seriously researching, and in 2017, she took her first institute course. Since then, Sara has attended courses at SLIG, IGHR, and GRIP. She also completed several study groups including ProGen 43, GenProof, and ProGen Practicum 01. Sara also values volunteerism and has worked in a variety of positions within genealogical organizations. She has served on organizational boards, as well as program and nominating committees, at both local and national levels.
Sara primarily researches in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Vermont, and New Hampshire, both at the local and state levels, as well as England. Her favorite way to research is in person when time and travel permits. Sara has abundant skills with customer service and communication, with a high degree of accuracy. She strives to maintain accurate records and documentation with meticulous detail. Sara is a methodical, resourceful, and organized in solving problems, excelling with tedious research.
