I am a professional genealogist and dedicated educator with fifteen years of experience empowering students to become confident researchers. As a teacher and librarian, I've honed my skills in making research engaging and accessible. My passion for uncovering stories, whether through genealogy or academic research, fuels my commitment to information literacy.

Recognized for my contributions to news literacy, I was honored with the prestigious 2024 Alan C. Miller Educator of the Year award by The News Literacy Project. This achievement underscores my dedication to equipping students with the critical thinking skills needed to navigate the complex information landscape. I am a passionate advocate for media literacy education.

Beyond the classroom, I am actively involved in the genealogy community. As the 2024-2025 president-elect and publicity chair of the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, I am dedicated to preserving local history and providing resources for researchers. Additionally, I played key roles in relaunching our scholarly genealogy journal, The Quarterly, as well as organizing the society's 50th Anniversary Celebration Conference.  I also completed ProGen 66 in June 2024.

I am experienced in researching Ancestry within the United States.  While my expertise is in Western Pennsylvania, I have researched many localities over the years.  Some areas where my ancestors are from include:

  • United States (all over)
  • Italy (Basilicata Region)
  • Slovakia (Brezno)
  • England
  • Barbados

I am open to many projects including client research, speaking, developing classes, and writing.
