Laura Lee has over 30 years of family history research experience after a life-long interest in genealogy was sparked at an early age. After nearly 20 years of teaching secondary students, Laura has just completed the first year of the MSc in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies at the University of Strathclyde.

Laura has worked extensively with United States, British, and Canadian records as well as German and Norwegian records. Based near the Minnesota Historical Society and other Twin Cities archives, Laura is available for record retrievals. In addition to family history, Laura also researches a variety of historical topics for books, courses and other projects.

Laura is an experienced presenter for both in-person and virtual events, and has expertise in curriculum design and course development. Throughout her career as a classroom teacher, Laura utilized stories of individuals and their context in history to get young people engaged with primary sources. Laura gives talks, writes articles and creates courses on all aspects of social and family history.

Do you have a document you struggle to read or lack the time to transcribe? Laura is able to transcribe many types of handwriting, including Secretary and Court hands, and can transcribe documents for a fee after an initial free consultation.
