Kristin joined Legacy Tree Genealogists in 2021 and is currently an Advanced Researcher on the United States research team. She was formerly the Digital Collections Coordinator within the University of Pittsburgh’s Library System, where she was responsible for managing the university’s digital collections, including HistoricPittsburgh.org. Previously she was the Manager of Rights and Digital Collections at the Andy Warhol Museum, where she was responsible for digitizing over half a million art and archival objects.
Before joining the Warhol, she worked as a researcher at the New England Historic Genealogical Society in the Research Services department. As a staff researcher, she was a co-author for the Tracing Your Roots column on Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr.’s culture website, The Root. Prior to working at NEHGS, she was an Archival Digitization Specialist for Ancestry.com, where she digitized the Twentieth Century Massachusetts Vital Record Indexes.
In 2020 she was appointed a Director at Large for the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, and she is the chair of the society’s Website Committee and assists with the society’s digitization of Allegheny County records.
She lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the city her ancestors immigrated to from Slovakia over 100 years earlier. She is passionate about making archival records more accessible through and using technology to discover and preserve the stories of our ancestors for future generations.
