I have spent many years doing extensive genealogical research for family, friends and colleagues, and currently do client research and reporting for Legacy Tree Genealogists. My professional certification is in process. My genealogical focus areas have a wide span based on personal interest: I am a fourth-generation California native based in the Pacific Northwest, and have lived in New Zealand, Syria, and Pakistan, as well as many years in Boston, MA, Washington, DC, Virginia Montana, and Seattle, WA, with a great deal of world travel. My own family tree includes 17th century English immigrants to Virginia; a Revolutionary War officer who married Patrick Henry's sister, Annie; Civil War officers and soldiers; German brothers who traveled across Panama to join the California Gold Rush, and Irish escapees from the potato famine. I served in the U.S. Navy as an Intelligence Specialist (I know more about Soviet submarines than anyone needs to know!), as a university admissions officer, and as a writer/editor. I have a BA from Stanford University, a Master's in Education from Harvard University, and a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University.
