My interest in family histories traces back to the 1960s, when my mother was researching and talking with me about her own efforts in that regard.  1996 was the year that really changed things for me, following (of all things) a visit to Sleepy Beauty's Castle at Disneyland, where I purchased a short history of my family surname.  1996 was also the year I discovered the Internet, which I used to find distant relatives in the US, but also in France, Germany, and Switzerland.  Using research skills I learned as a college instructor and historian (M.A. U.S. History - SDSU), I began the deep dive into exploring LDS and NARA records, writing to and visiting relatives in the US and in Europe, using DNA testing, and any number of other techniques to flesh out the story of my own ancestry.  The bottom line was a 210-page illustrated family history that I self-published in 2000; with new information and corrections, that was updated to an even longer full color, hardback family history book in 2013.

Since that time, I have helped numerous friends and associates learn about their own family histories - some for free, others for a modest fee.  I have created written histories for them ranging from short 12-page folders to 80-page hardback books that in many cases trace their ancestry back to Roman times.

I truly enjoy the detective work involved in genealogy, and as a skilled writer, enjoy putting it all into an interesting narrative that pleases and surprises in every case.  Retired now from long careers in business and teaching, I look forward to expanding my informal genealogical efforts to help an expanded number of people learn their own family's story.
