Castles are citadels of world heritage, attracting millions of visitors from around the globe each year, yet today they are deteriorating at an accelerated rate. How do we attract positive attention and revenue for the sites less traveled? With deep conviction I adhere to a dictate of faith. Most culture and heritage sites are falling apart, even worse they lack authenticity, and tourist information delivery is outdated and boring. If these sites are to live on we need a fresh approach. It all started with one question: How do I get my kids to take interest in the castle and family history?

It took 4 years alone to unearth one last document in Kazan, Russia to prove that my second great grandfather did in fact exist, he disappeared into the gulag in the 1936 Great Purge. So meeting the Genealogical Proof Standard was no easy task. My biggest lesson during this search is the importance of family lineage and legacy, something everyone has. 

For over a decade, I painstakingly researched this controversial claim to one of Latvia's most treasured historical sites. This journey uncovers a family wronged, a history erased, and a legacy waiting to be reclaimed.

With documents in hand, I traveled to Latvia to reclaim the castle. As of today, well that is where Time Trip comes in, my mission is to digitally memorialize the legacy of my family and secure a place in the family’s 800-year history.
