I always take any courses, classes, and webinars I can to ensure I'm keeping up with all the new methods and ideas as they come along and keeping my skills sharp! I also volunteer for a few Genealogical groups. One is the Adoption Angels, which uses Genetic Genealogy to help adoptees find their biological families. Being an adoptee myself, I love being able to help others find their biological families. I was self-taught in 2001 when I was searching for my biological mother online. I eventually found my maternal and paternal sides and I remember the feeling when I found my paternal grandfather after looking for so long. My goal is to make others feel that excitement I felt!

In 2001 I was only 14 and I would find myself asking my elders questions and scribbling notes to keep for later. If there was a black-and-white photo in a room, I would have to ask who was in the photo. I have collections of postcards, plat books, old notes, coins, and stamps. I even have a few yearbooks and have attended way too many estate sales. And when I start to ramble, I realize why it's 20 years later and I still find myself browsing through a census at midnight or searching in the catalogs first thing in the morning.

Genetic Genealogy is what makes things fun. Using DNA to verify connections, even if they're small. Using triangulation to verify ancestors, all of the different tools we have access to now. For as long as I can remember I've stuck with Genealogy and when I look back, I don't think there was a chance I was going to end up anywhere else. I wasn't only doing it to answer my questions about adoption and It's not just something to do for me. It's my passion. It's as if I get to tell someone's story and give them a second life and it's so much fun!

Let me help you find the excitement in your family tree!
