I am a historian who can unfailingly rely on her own toolbox : my comprehensive knowledge of social and economic history combined with an in-depth knowledge of maritime history is an indispensable asset. Moreover, I have been using oral history methods in my research for many years with great success what counts is not just gathering information but understanding the people who have stories to tell. Yet education alone is not always enough: I am constantly driven by a certain curiosity, confidence in my own capabilities and an open and inquiring mind. And there s no doubt that my gut instinct is a helpful tool in some cases. What makes my work so special and so important is the awe inspired by the biographical sources that I have available.
