I am the founder of Family Origins Research based in Edinburgh, Scotland.  I was born and brought up in Glasgow, Scotland and subsequently lived in London, England, Toronto, Canada and now in the New Town, Edinburgh, Scotland.

As a professional genealogist, I have experience in researching the National Records of Scotland (NRS), National Library of Scotland (NLS), Edinburgh City Archives, Glasgow City Archives, Public Record Office Northern Ireland (PRONI), General Register Office (GRO), Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and Canadian Provincial Archives.  I can also access other archives and records depending on the specific search required.

Living in Edinburgh, I am within walking distance of the National Records of Scotland (NRS) General Register House and Edinburgh City Archives.

Wilma Campbell OBE MA, Scotland. Family Origins Research has the skills to unlock a treasure trove of information. This was a fantastic journey of discovery into the past. David has my highest recommendation.

Morag Buchanan, Scotland. David, owner of Family Origins Research, has a unique ability to locate and organize information which I always dared to find. David has show professional expertise and far more attention to detail than some of the larger companies. This is paramount in finding out who we really are.

April Boyington Wall and Pat Skeoch, Canada. We contracted with David to research our family in Scotland and are absolutely delighted with the work he did. He kept in touch frequently, showing us photos of locations of family homes, and then wrote a comprehensive report on his findings supporting it with photographs and documents from his research. He checked out several questions we had around family lore and definitely went the extra mile in pursuing these queries. We have no hesitation in recommending David as a genealogist.

Sarah Schnobel, Canada. We selected David because of his specialization with the British Isles. We could not be happier with our choice. David was a true partner every step of the way. He was in continuous contact with us, verifying details and sharing discoveries as soon as they popped up. My brother and I were amazed at just how deep his search parameters were and the fine details he was able to to discover. David's research far away exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be happier with our final report. David was a true pleasure to work with and his love for his occupation shines through with his professionalism, his genuine interest in your search and his complete understanding of the emotional impact of his findings.

Sue Montgomery, Canada.  I selected David because he had expertise in researching military records.  I had my grandfather's attestation papers and his service record but it just did not tell me the story of his service.  David did extensive research into his records and provided very detailed maps and records that gave me a clear understanding of where he had been and what he had gone through.  This is the information I will now proudly share with the rest of my family.  I really appreciated David keeping me up to date on his research as it progressed and would highly recommend David for his genealogical research.

Carla Galletti, USA.  I needed a copy of my grandfather's naturalization documents from Canada.  The Canadian Government's website was very confusing, and being a US citizen, I didn't think I could request the records.  So, I reached out to several genealogists with expertise in Canadian records.  David was the only one that responded even though he was in the midst of a move.  David was very helpful and quickly figured out a way to submit my request.  After 19 months, I received the documents.  David is a true professional that cares.  I recommend him wholeheartedly.
