Craig Harman is the professional genealogist behind Branch and Root Genealogy. A graduate of Princeton University and Brigham Young University, Harman holds a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University.

Harman caught the genealogy bug, when, while researching his own family in the late 1990s, he uncovered a case of an unknown father, a wrong ethnicity, a disappearing couple, and a forgotten lineage that led back to a village in Alsace, France.

Harman specializes in Mid-Atlantic, New England, French, and German research. Alongside his native English, Harman speaks and reads French and German fluently and is competent in Italian, Dutch, Spanish, and some Latin.

Harman is available for in-person and online consultation, online and onsite research, and lectures and classes at institutions in the Greater Hartford region of Connecticut.
