Southeast Chapter Wins 2025 Chapter/SIG Excellence Award

APG President Tricia Seguine will present the 2025 Chapter/Special Interest Group Excellence Award to the APG Southeast Chapter. The chapter was singled out for a number of achievements in 2025, including:
APG President Tricia Seguine will present the 2025 Chapter/Special Interest Group Excellence Award to the APG Southeast Chapter. The chapter was singled out for a number of achievements in 2025, including:
- Growing the membership from five active members in March 2025 to 128 members in 32 states by December, and expanding from Georgia to include Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
- Holding a “Record Access & Advocacy Panel” webinar focused on their region
- Launching a Chapter website, newsletter, and weekly chats
- Forming new committees and groups, including: Book Club; Presentation Practice; Writing & Editing; and Business Practices; and groups for each state covered by the chapter.
- Established system of external communication utilizing the apgen.org email address, apgen.org Message Boards, a Chapter Facebook group; and the Chapter webpage.
- Additional benefits created by the chapter that have been implemented in 2026 include: a BCG certification accountability group; body doubling sessions (open to all APG members); and a study group for North Carolina Research: Genealogy and Local History by Helen F.M. Leary, CG®, FASG (led by Amy Pittman).
