Past topics have included marketing, time management, legal and ethical issues, client and business management, and continuing education, as well as presentations on speaking, teaching, and writing. Topics are not limited to these fields, but should focus on professional development, or advancing the professional genealogist's business or practical skills. Some examples of past webinar presentations include: "Genetic Genealogy for Professionals: Research Reports", "Developing, Marketing, and Teaching an Online Course" and "Productivity Hacks for Professional Genealogists.” APG members may access the full webinar library on our website by going to https://www.apgen.org/webinar_library_lms.php.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and the International Affairs Committees host webinars on specific topics. They have additional requirements, and welcome proposals through this process. See below for further details.

APG hosts monthly webinars online via Zoom, which typically include 45-50 minutes of content with additional time for Q&A, facilitated by a moderator. Panel discussions with multiple speakers are also an option. Presentations are recorded and available to our members through our webinar library for at least twelve months following the event. Speakers will be compensated and should also plan to provide a syllabus or handout to accompany their talk.

APG prefers new and original presentations tailored to professional genealogists. APG prioritizes member applications but will consider submissions from outside the organization. A separate call for proposals for APG’s annual virtual Professional Management Conference will be issued in early 2026.

Specific requirements for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee Webinars:
The purpose of the DEI speaking opportunity, known as “New Voices,” is to diversify the narrative in genealogical research by providing a platform for emerging voices, particularly those focusing on underrepresented communities. The goal is to create a series of educational webinars to enrich the knowledge base of APG members, fostering a broader understanding of historical and cultural issues impacting genealogical research. The DEI Committee offers its support to assist speakers who may have less experience with presenting. APG welcomes speakers from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to participate in our events. Last year, New Voices covered aspects of reparative genealogy, and research on several Pacific Northwest Native American tribes. Specific Requirements for International Affairs Committee (IAC) Webinars:
The purpose of this speaking opportunity is to highlight research and/or business challenges and opportunities in countries outside the United States. Last year’s presentations included a review of the impact of privacy legislation across four European countries, and an overview of conducting genealogical business in Panama, Mexico and Brazil. For questions specific to an IAC submission, please contact email admin@apgen.org.
