Leadership Update from the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG)

27 January 2025—
Following the 15 January 2025 resignation of APG Board President John Boeren, QG, Vice President Suzanne L. Hoffman of Chicago, Illinois, USA, has assumed the role of APG President and will serve out the former president’s remaining term through 2025.

"I want to thank John for all he has done to support APG over the past five years, as both a board member and as President,” said Hoffman. “He has changed APG for the better."

The role of APG Vice President will now be held by current Board member Karin Coppernoll of Washington, USA. Karin's vacant Board position will be filled in the coming days.

Suzanne Hoffman, ”The Genealogy Maven”, has been working as a professional forensic genealogist for the past seven years. She is also a specialist in Eastern European research and immigration. After completing a 25-year sales management career in the high-tech industry and a stint as an industry consultant, her zeal for genealogical research and family mysteries took hold and presented the opportunity to indulge in her passion. She holds certificates of completion from the Boston University Genealogical Research program, ProGen, GenProof, GenFed, Forensic Genealogy I & II from the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh (GRIP), and various other courses.

About Karin Coppernoll
Karin Coppernoll of Washington, USA, is a professional genealogist with almost 50 years’ experience. She has a particular interest in DNA, land records, New York State, and the Northwest Region of the USA. Karin holds a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University, a Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies (PLCGS) from The National Institute for Genealogical Studies, and has completed in-person and virtual advanced courses through the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG).
