APG Seeking APGQ Proofreader - Contract Position

The Association of Professional Genealogists is seeking qualified candidates to fill the contractor position of proofreader for the Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly journal, or APGQ.

Interested parties should submit a cover letter and resume to Julie Cahill Tarr, Managing Editor, at editor@apgen.org, by 15 December 2024.

The proofreader assists the APGQ Managing Editor to ensure the final version of the publication is accurate, free from errors, and consistent in style and content.

Suitable candidates will be detail-oriented, with an eye for grammatical inconsistencies, and be able to work meticulously on a deadline.

A working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style (17th and 18th editions) and Evidence Explained: Citing History Sources from Artifacts to Cyberspace is required.

Candidates should expect to commit about ten hours per quarter in the months of November, February, May, and August. Compensation is $450 per issue. Candidates may be required to take an editing test.
