Britain, Ireland and the Isles Chapter

Britain Ireland and the Isles

General Information

The Britain, Ireland and the Isles Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists was formed in 2013. Members of the Chapter share an interest in genealogical research in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Isle of Man and/or the Channel Islands. The Chapter exists to help APG members connect and support one another via regular virtual get-togethers.

If you are seeking a professional genealogist with expertise in conducting research in the region, you can search for APG members in the "Find a Genealogist’ section of this website. Under ‘I’d like a genealogist based in’ and ‘I’d like a genealogist who researches in’ you can select ‘United Kingdom’ or ‘Ireland’ from the drop-down lists of countries and then click ‘Search’.

Membership

The Chapter is open to all current APG members. There is no cost to join over and above a standard APG subscription. When you log in to the APG website, you can join the Chapter by opting-in to our mailing list in the Members' Area. Please click on "Engagement", then on "Chapters/SIGs/Committees" in the drop-down list and select the link for this Chapter.

Meetings

Informal virtual coffee breaks are held once every two months, occasionally with talks on subjects of interest to members. We meet using Zoom and chat about genealogy for around an hour.  Invitations to join these sessions are circulated to members of the Chapter.

Chapter Management

The chapter is managed by two representatives: Ciara Chivers, who is based in Northern Ireland, and Nicholas Dixon, who is based in London.
